Types of External Hoses
External hoses are used to carry fluids between two points on a vehicle. These hoses are made with several layers to avoid kinking and abrasion. These layers also help protect the inner layers from external forces. The first layer is called the core layer and transports water. It may also contain a barrier to prevent contact between recycled materials and water. The second layer is called the reinforcement layer and is made of polyester fiber. It is usually woven into the core layer or embedded in the outer layers.
External hoses are typically made of rubber. This is because rubber has the ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures, making it ideal for use on hot water and cold water applications. Some types of hoses are made from stainless steel. In addition, some types of hoses are designed to withstand pressure and friction.
In some cases, a hose may have an internal valve. This prevents water from gushing out when the spray head is detachable. In other cases, a water stop connector may be fitted to the tap end. Despite their name, these stop connectors are not check valves. They are two-way valves. When the accessory is pushed into the fitting, the valve opens.
Some hoses have threaded connections. These fittings are commonly used to connect two hoses together. These fittings usually screw into common hose connectors. Hozelock, a manufacturer of hoses, developed the first plastic connector. Since then, it has become the de facto standard in Europe and is compatible with many other manufacturers. Some even incorporate autostop functionality for easy reconnection.
